CT Woman Kidnaps 5-Year-Old Family Member In Stolen Vehicle, Police Say

A Connecticut woman has been charged with kidnapping after she allegedly went to a family member's home and took a 5-year-old girl from her bed without permission.

The incident took place in New Haven County around 12 a.m., on Sunday, May 14 in Naugatuck.

According to Naugatuck Police, Danielle Lombardi, age 41, of Naugatuck, when to a family member's home at night and took the 5-year-old girl from her bed without permission, and left in a stolen vehicle.

Due to past history involving mental health concerns, and statements made by Lombardi earlier in the evening, the child’s safety and well-being were in jeopardy, Naugatuck Police said.

Officers utilized multiple departmental resources and coordinated with outside police agencies in an effort to locate the child. 

After several hours, the child was returned and the Lombardi attempted to flee on foot, police said.

During her capture, police said Lombardi assaulted a police officer when being taken into custody.

Lombardi was charged with:

  • Risk of injury
  • Custody interference
  • Kidnapping
  • Burglary
  • Assault of a police officer
  • Larceny of a vehicle 

She was held on a $250,000 bond.
